Course Description

Warehousing plays a critical role in assuring high levels of customer service and overall supply chain performance. It minimizes the effects of supply chain inefficiencies; improves logistics accuracy and inventory management; allows product accumulation, consolidation, and customization; and helps mitigate risks of supply chain disruption. However, due to SKU proliferation, time compression, smaller order sizes, international orders, and increased security requirements, the workload and complexity for most warehouse operations has increased dramatically. In many cases the cost of warehousing has increased accordingly.

In World-Class Warehousing and Material HandlingSM learn the principles, practices, metrics, and systems that combine to minimize a warehouses labor, space, capital, and error costs. Understand the principles and practices that are common denominators of world-class warehousing. Gain a decade's worth of logistics research, education, and consulting project experience. Develop your own warehouse master plan to support the corporation's overall logistics strategy.

At the core of World-Class Warehousing and Material HandlingSM is Dr. Frazelle's RightHouseTM model for warehouse operations, part of LRI's RightChainTM supply chain logistics model. The RightHouseTM model, toolkit, and project initiatives are responsible for millions of dollars in annual savings and are running world-class warehouses in nearly every major industry throughout the world. Typical results include 15% to 30% overall reduction in warehousing costs, significant increases in inventory and shipping accuracy, and 10% to 25% increases in storage density.

Each on-campus course attendee will receive a copy of Dr. Frazelle's World-Class Warehousing and Material Handling book, the first widely published methodology for warehouse problem solving across all areas of the supply chain. The book breaks through the confusing array of technology, buzzwords, and third-party providers to describe the principles required for designing and implementing world-class warehousing operations.
