Course Description

This web cast will use case studies of individuals working in food service jobs to illustrate the work accommodation process. Accommodations involving job tasks, equipment and training will be discussed. Attendees will be given examples of assistive technologies that can help people with various functional limitations perform their jobs in the food service industry

All students will need access to a computer with internet connection and a microphone.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the process for selecting and providing accommodations for employees in the food service industry
  • Differentiate between the 3 areas commonly addressed in the accommodation process
  • Describe at least 3 assistive technologies that can help people with functional limitations perform job tasks in the food service industry

Instructor

Sarah Endicott, OT, Research Scientist I, Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access, Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her BS degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1979. She began working at CATEA in 1984. Sarah's specialties are in the areas of accessibility, environmental modifications, and technology application for persons with disabilities. She has provided technical assistance for several years for the Southeast DBTAC, with a primary focus on Title III inquiries. She has performed numerous physical accessibility assessments for both Title II and Title III entities. She has authored several articles on accessibility and technology application for people with disabilities.
