Assistive Technology
Enhancing lives through assistive and universally designed technology
Georgia Tech’s Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access provides practical knowledge of assistive technology, environmental access, universal design, workplace accommodations, and home modifications. We teach you the principles as well as their application, training you to provide high quality service and solutions to people with disabilities and aging adults in workplace, home, educational, and public environments.
Practical improvements range from hearing aids or hands-free devices for cell phones to scooters that improve mobility. We will show you how to use devices, strategies, equipment, and practices to maintain, increase or improve functional performance and life satisfaction of individuals with disabilities, and even those without.
Learn to create solutions that facilitate greater independence through real-world applications, hands-on experiences, lectures, discussions, presentations, and case studies. Instructors with experience implementing these strategies will show you how to put your knowledge to work immediately.
