Professional Education facilitates the delivery of Georgia Tech's only professional master's degree

A professional master’s differs slightly from a typical master’s degree in that it's geared toward working professionals. The Professional Master’s in Applied Systems Engineering (PMASE) is a hybrid program, consisting of face-to-face instruction time and distance instruction via video teleconferencing and online modules. The highly successful program is now entering its fifth year.

Meet Dan LaRubio

When Dan LaRubio returned from a second tour in Afghanistan as part of the Georgia National Guard, he had plenty of skills to offer any company. In addition to military service, he had experience as a supervisor in a variety of sectors — business administration, retail and hospitality.

LaRubio wanted to find an employer who would meet him face-to-face and talk about his skills and career potential rather than check off the qualifications listed on his resume. There’s more to a person than what you can list on a piece of paper, he thought.

Meet Alphonso Bynes

While serving 12 years in the U.S. Army as a Black Hawk crew chief and aviation mechanic, Alphonso Bynes earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems management and a master’s degree in information technology management. When he arrived in the Savannah area in 2011, he taught business classes at nearby colleges and he was an instructor for the U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School while on active duty from 2001 to 2013.
