George Wright, director of Georgia Tech Online, retired after over 23 years of service to Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE).

Wright led the GTPE team (then DLPE) that developed the specifications for the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center and other Tech Square A/V design and installation efforts. He worked with key team members to secure our FCC EBS license and to negotiate the long-term excess capacity lease that represents the single largest contract for GTPE.

Working with campus partners, he helped to add several additional distance learning master's degree programs to our graduate offerings and led the growth of the programs, enrollments, and operations. He also facilitated the expansion of  distance learning-capable campus classrooms to the current 15.

Not only was he a key contributor to Georgia Tech's compliance efforts of state authorization and accreditation, he also recruited and mentored quite a few individuals in our organization. "GTPE is grateful for his hard work and service," says Yakut Gazi, associate dean for Learning Systems. "I have enjoyed having his wisdom and guidance for the learning systems team during the time I have been here and wish him all the best in his next chapter."
