Short Courses (weekday) (Sensor and Data Fusion)

1.   Chemical, Explosives & Biological Detection: Overview of Point and Standoff Sensing Technologies   (DEF 8100P)

This course is designed to introduce participants to chemical, explosives and biological detection and identification techniques which are commonly utilized for military and civil applications.
Defense Technology, Sensor and Data Fusion, Defense Technology:Sensor and Data Fusion
1 open section 3/9/2010-3/11/2010

2.   Foundations of Situation and Threat Assessment   (DEF 8101P)

Threat assessment, although vitally important in today's military and intelligence applications, has only recently been approached in a systematic way. Issues in developing practical systems for Situation and Threat Assessment (STA) derive ultimately from uncertainty in available evidence and in available models of such relationships and situations. Techniques for mitigating these problems - now and in the future - will be discussed.
Defense Technology, Sensor and Data Fusion, Defense Technology:Sensor and Data Fusion
1 open section 8/17/2010-8/19/2010

3.   Image Fusion   (DEF 8103P)

Stimulated by the global war on terrorism and other non-traditional military and intelligence challenges, there has been considerable work and progress in situation and threat assessment. Participants focus on the development of advanced image fusion architecture for military, intelligence, and civil applications.
Defense Technology, Sensor and Data Fusion, Defense Technology:Sensor and Data Fusion
1 open section 4/13/2010-4/15/2010

4.   Imaging Automatic Target Recognition   (DEF 8102P)

Explore the underlying concepts and current work in imaging target recognition/combat identification. Identify current methods, issues, and future directions in Imaging ATR/Combat ID. Understand current systems and techniques in this changing defense area.
Defense Technology, Sensor and Data Fusion, Defense Technology:Sensor and Data Fusion
1 open section 3/16/2010-3/18/2010

5.   Multi-Sensor Data Fusion   (DEF 8104P)

Integrating and interpreting data is an emerging technology, commonly referred to as data fusion. The power to exploit all relevant information rapidly and effectively is at the core of the Net-Centric Operations (NCO) paradigm. To further advance the knowledge and work on data fusion, the military will need to identify concerns in technological advancement, analyze current and future requirements, as well as overcome the major challenges faced, and how these challenges can be resolved.
